There are different types of genres found in this. They are –

  • Epic – They narrate history or legendary heroic tales
  • Lyric – It is in the poetic form where the dialogues has rhyming words
  • Drama – It includes both dialogue and songs while enacting the play
  • Romance – Love and affection forms the main plot in the play
  • Tragedy – It expresses human pain and suffering, which is more serious
  • Comedy – The plot of the play is to make people forget everything and laugh
  • Tragic Comedy – It is a mixture of the above both genres. These types of plays make people laugh and as well as cry.

Ideas to right a short play script

  • First choose the genre and gradually develop the same into a story
  • It would be very easy to develop the plot if you adapt things from your everyday life
  • Now decide upon the characters, their number, age, name, role, looks and gender
  • Write what all have you decided, which is the shorter version of your play
  • Share the copies with your family and friends and ask for their reviews and comments
  • Now complete the rest based upon the reviews received
  • Proof read the script twice and check for mistakes if any
  • Obtain the opinion form an experienced theater artist
  • Finalize the script and give the play a catchy name and take a blue print of it
  • Now select the artists for each and every role in your script
  •  Get the play practiced several times as always practice makes perfect show in the theaters.
