- Tragedy – It expresses human pain and suffering, which is more serious

- Tragic Comedy – It is a mixture of the above both genres. These types of plays make people laugh and as well as cry.
Ideas to right a short play script
- First choose the genre and gradually develop the same into a story
- It would be very easy to develop the plot if you adapt things from your everyday life
- Now decide upon the characters, their number, age, name, role, looks and gender
- Write what all have you decided, which is the shorter version of your play
- Share the copies with your family and friends and ask for their reviews and comments
- Now complete the rest based upon the reviews received
- Proof read the script twice and check for mistakes if any
- Obtain the opinion form an experienced theater artist
- Finalize the script and give the play a catchy name and take a blue print of it
